Connected Vehicle technologies can vastly improve safety and mobility on our streets and highways.  eTrans On-Board Unit technology, eOBU, has been specifically designed to provide a flexible solution for connected vehicle systems within vehicles.

eTrans’ Features and Applications in the eTrans Vehicle Solutions include:

Features

Connected Vehicle technologies can vastly improve safety and mobility on our streets and highways.  eTrans On-Board Unit technology, eOBU, has been specifically designed to provide a flexible solution for in-vehicle connected vehicle systems.

eTrans’ solutions include:

Robust Software: The eOBU software is built upon the eTrans V2x Software Development Platform (VSDP) which provides a concrete foundation for the overall OBU capability.

Built to Standards:  The eOBU software is specifically built to meet or exceed IEES and SAE connected vehicle standards.

Flexible Hardware Options: The eTrans eOBU can be delivered using the state-of-the-art eTrans OBU hardware platform.  In addition, the software can be delivered on hardware solutions from

  • Danlaw
  • Unex
  • Autotalks
  • Renesas
  • Cohda
  • Lear/Arada
  • ublox/NXP

The eTrans eOBU can also be used as to provide additional sensor data to Autonomous Vehicles.

The eTrans eOBU works with the eTrans Assist app for Android and Apple devices to provide visual and audio alerts to the driver.

V2V Applications

  • Collision Warning

Warns drivers when it appears that their vehicle will potentially hit another vehicle. This application presents alerts to the driver to help avoid or mitigate the severity of crashes.

  • Emergency Electronic Brake Light:

The Emergency Electronic Brake Light (EEBL) application alerts the driver to hard braking in the traffic stream ahead. This provides the driver with additional time to look for and assess situations developing.

  • Intersection Movement Assist

An application that warns the driver when it is not safe to enter an intersection—for example, when something is blocking the driver’s view of opposing or crossing traffic.

  • Do Not Pass Information

Using a V2V video connection, drivers can essentially see through the car in front of them to ensure it is safe to pass thus improving safety on the road

  • Emergency Vehicle Warning

Using V2V messaging drivers are warned of approaching emergency vehicles so that they can take appropriate actions.

V2I Applications

  • Red Light Violation Warning:

Warns drivers when it appears that the vehicle will enter the intersection on red or yellow light.

  • Speed Warnings

Warns drivers when their vehicle is exceeding the speed limit in work zones, around curves, and in school zones.

  • Emergency Communications

Provides emergency evacuation routes, detours, and route information regarding major circumstances needing immediate changes in traffic patterns.

  • Hazard Warnings

Warns drivers about road hazards or severe weather in the up-coming roadway.

V2P Applications

  • Pedestrian Detection

When pedestrians are identified within a specific area like a crosswalk or roadway, this application can receive a SPaT or Personal Safety message generated from the RSU to warn the driver of the presence of pedestrians.
